It is my privilege to be called to Calvary, where I have served since June 2008.

Born and raised in Park River, North Dakota, I attended Trinity Lutheran College in Seattle (’95-’99), Luther seminary in St. Paul (M.Div., ‘99-‘03), and Princeton Seminary in New Jersey (Ph.D., ’03-‘09). Despite doing extended graduate studies, I have sensed a strong call to pastoral ministry since my teenage years. My areas of focus and passion are preaching, teaching, biblical studies of any kind, and pastoral care. What I most love about serving at Calvary is that I need not specialize in one of these areas, but instead may serve throughout all of congregational life.

I am married to the most wonderful woman in the world, Maria, who grew up in Plymouth, Minnesota. Our son, Timothy, is two years old and our source of greatest pride. Outside of Calvary, I teach a few classes on the side as an adjunct instructor for UND’s Philosophy and Religion department, which I enjoy. Altogether, we are thrilled and excited to call Calvary our church, and to be part of all that God is up to in Grand Forks.

Some personal notes:
· Maria’s parents and brothers live in the northwest suburbs of the Twin Cities. Troy’s mother still lives in Park River, ND. We are very excited to live within driving distance from our families.
· Maria is a preschool teacher by trade, and is the official editor of Troy’s Kids’ Time messages. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, craft projects, and American Idol.
· Timothy loves balls, the pool, playing with Daddy, food, and being outside. His baptism at Calvary (June 2008) was his father’s first baptism.
· In Troy’s free time he enjoys riding his Trek road bike on the Greenway, drinking coffee at Starbucks, writing or reviewing works of biblical scholarship, and watching “The Mentalist.”
· I grew up playing hockey (playing for the Grafton-Park River Spoilers in high school), and I have been a UND hockey fan all my life.
