Children

Children have many ways to be connected at Calvary.  Whether they are worshiping with their families, participating in Sunday School, or enjoying the different opportunities that are available for them to participate in, they will find themselves growing in their faith and becoming more and more a part of the community to which they belong.

Calvary Lutheran Prayground

At Calvary Lutheran Church, as Jesus did, we welcome children of all ages as integral members of the body of Christ, and we welcome the sounds and activity that accompany them! With this in mind, we have decided to try test out a new space designed for our children ages 3 and under, who don’t currently go to church school during the worship services, through a new space called The Pray-ground.

WHAT IS THE PRAYGROUND?

The Prayground is an area in one of the front corners of our worship spaces speci cally intended for families with

infants and toddlers, recognizing that small kids are often more engaged when they can see what’s going on. Small tables and chairs, soft toys and coloring sheets help to keep our littlest ones occupied.

WON’T THIS BE NOISY OR DISTRACTING FOR OTHERS?

Our hope is no, and certainly not any noisier than if those same kids were sitting in the pews! We are taking great care selecting play items that would keep the noise to a minimum. Just like worship is currently, there will be the occasional crying baby or noisy toddler, but as always, we will trust the parents to take their kids out when they get really disruptive. The pray-ground is not a drop off nursery care, we have the nursery for that! Instead this is intended to be a space for parents to sit with their children in an area designed for them!

Support the Prayground!

Here is the link to the Amazon Gift Registry to support the Playgrounds at Calvary. Be sure to login by going to smile.amazon.com and a percentage of your purchase is given back to Calvary!

If you have any questions or would like more information or would like to support the pray-ground in any way please contact Aaron Bye, Nichole Bye, pastoral staff as well as our council representative Joani Kilber. We thank you all as we experiment with a new and exciting way to welcome all to our worship services!
