Calvary’s Silver Stars is geared for adults age 65+ and is a ministry of community and fellowship.

Silver Stars meet the second Wednesday of every month at 2:00 p.m.   The format for this fun group will include a devotion time, Happy Birthday wishes, a program and a light snack!

Women’s Weekend

 

Rest, Renew, Rejoice: Women’s Weekend at Calvary

Friday, April 13 – Saturday, April 14

Reconnect with your maker and your purpose at this incredible event for women! Join us as we welcome author and Concordia professor Jaqueline Bussie who will present, Lament, Hope and Love: Finding Authentic Faith By Breaking the Rules 

This year’s retreat will begin with registration on Friday at 5:30 p.m. It will include inspirational teaching, a wide array of break-out sessions for all interests, informal worship, time for reflection, laughter and fellowship. For women ages 14-104!

Cost for this year’s retreat is $50 ($20 for students) and includes 2 meals and program costs.

Morning for Moms

Morning for Moms_logoThursday mornings during the school year, from 9:45-11:00, Calvary hosts a Bible study/prayer group geared for women with children (especially young children).

We gather in Room 10 and enjoy Bible study over coffee and tea.  Bible study books for this study are available in the church office.

Nursery is available for those with little ones. Women of all ages are welcome, come as you are able!

All women of Calvary who participate in the activities that indicate a commitment to the purpose of Women of the ELCA.  All women are invited to participate.

What is the purpose of the Women of the ELCA?

As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society and the world.

What is our commitment as Women of the ELCA?

We come together for study, support and action.  We participate in the ministry of Women of the ELCA by participating in our unit, the Grand Forks Cluster – church unit groups (meets in the spring); the Eastern North Dakota Synod Women’s Organization – synod groups (meets triennially).  We send one delegate to the synod and the synod elects delegates to the triennial but all women can attend all of the meetings.  We support financially (as we are able) the program of the Women of the ELCA with offerings gathered at meetings.

What activities do we participate in?

We meet monthly at 7:00 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month for Bible study, programs and action.  We may choose to join circles that meet in the morning, afternoon or evening on the third Wednesday of the month for Bible Study.  We participate in the mission program of the EaND Synod:  Lutheran World Relief – school kits, baby care kits, personal care kits, fabric kits, mission quilts, soap.

Why should I participate?

Participation gives us an opportunity to gather for fellowship and to learn and share; opportunities to join with other women for Bible study, reflection and prayer that offers us the quiet moments to give ourselves over to God, to place ourselves in God’s hands; opportunities to serve, explore and to share the gifts God has given us.

Annual Women’s Retreat
