Highlights of Church Council May 11, 2010 Treasurer’s Report: Receipts for April were comparable to the budgeted level expected for the month, but they were 11 percent lower than the prior year. Reasoning for the lower receipts in April 2010 in comparison with April 2009 is attributed to one additional Lenten service occurring in 2009 as well as a large one time gift given in 2009 which together made the difference in the receipts for the month. Some of the larger non-recurring disbursements in the month of April were sponsorship of the PATH program at Camp Amnicon and assistance to local refugees with school supplies and gym uniforms funded through the Noisy Offering. Year to date receipts are comparable with prior year receipts, while disbursements are a bit lower than prior year amounts. By continuing on the current path of comparable receipts from prior years and lower than expected disbursements our current level of financial comfort will remain through the summer and into the fall. Officer and Ministry Teams: The window replacement project is progressing. We have received contributions to cover just about five windows to date. With the recent rains we have been made aware of a roof issue over the Nursery, a bid has been accepted and a repair will be made. We are also looking at some roof maintenance/repair expenses that we will encounter in the next 3-5 years that we will need to start to budget for. There will be opportunities over the next few weeks to sign up for helping with Habitat for Humanity Build. Please consider giving of your time and talents. The Calvary Foundation has approved a number of grants that are both local and far reaching. We are blessed to be a blessing. Jodie Storhaug reported that there will be a new member orientation on June 3 and new member Sunday on June 6. If you know of anyone interested in joining Calvary, please let the office or one of the pastors know. Other business: Submitted by Kris Bateman, Secretary |
